Aluminium 2024 is a high-performance alloy used wherever standard fasteners cannot meet the corrosion, temperature, or strength envelope. TorqBolt manufactures the full Aluminium 2024 fastener range — bolts, nuts, screws, washers, studs, and custom forgings — under one ISO 9001:2015 quality system, with PED 2014/68/EU module-H qualification for pressure-equipment service.
Aluminium 2024 is specified in oil & gas wellhead components, refinery heat exchangers, petrochemical reactors, power-generation turbines, marine offshore platforms, and pharmaceutical / food-grade processing. Its corrosion resistance, high-temperature strength, and weldability make it the default for service conditions outside the carbon and standard-stainless envelope.
Aluminium 2024 fasteners are supplied with EN 10204 3.1 (mill cert) or 3.2 (third-party witnessed) material test reports as standard. Additional certification packages: NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 (sour service), NORSOK M-650 (subsea / topside), API 6A (wellhead), API 20E (subsea bolting), PED 2014/68/EU (pressure equipment). Third-party inspection by TUV, Lloyd's, BV, DNV, SGS, and Intertek arrangeable on order.
Stock items in standard Aluminium 2024 fastener sizes ship in 1–2 weeks; custom-manufactured items in 4–6 weeks subject to material availability. Diameters M6–M100 and 1/4"–4", lengths 10 mm–3000 mm covered in-house; oversize / non-standard sizes quoted to specification.
Aluminium alloys are specified for fasteners where weight reduction, electrical conductivity, or non-magnetic / non-sparking properties dominate the design envelope — aerospace structures, marine spars, electronics enclosures, and industries where reducing reciprocating mass directly improves performance. Density of ~2.7 g/cm³ (one-third of steel) combined with self-passivating Al₂O₃ surface gives respectable corrosion resistance in atmospheric service.
2024 (Al-Cu-Mg) is the high-strength aerospace alloy: yield ~325 MPa in T3 condition, used for airframe structural fasteners. 6061 (Al-Mg-Si) is the general-purpose grade with excellent weldability and corrosion, the standard for marine + structural fasteners. 7075 (Al-Zn-Mg-Cu) is the highest-strength aluminium fastener alloy: yield ~505 MPa in T6 condition, comparable to mild steel at one-third the weight — the dominant material for civilian + military aircraft assembly.
Aluminium fasteners ship per AMS 7222 / 7223 / ASTM F468 (rod) with full mechanical certification including hardness (Rockwell B 60-87), tensile, and conductivity testing. Galvanic isolation is critical when aluminium fasteners contact dissimilar metals in moist environments — cadmium plating or insulating washer + sleeve combinations are commonly specified.
